Musings: Gratitude List

Today’s topic is: “Make a gratitude list.”

Gratitude, gratefulness, appreciation, thankfulness…

According to GratitudeRevealed, the most effective way to be happier, boost your immune system, improve your relationships, motivate you to “pay it forward”, and curb impulsive spending is to practice gratitude.

Research by Sonja Lyubomirsky of the University of California, Riverside, and others has found that grateful people experience more optimism, joy, enthusiasm, and other positive emotions, and they have a deeper appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. ~

So I’ve decided that my monthly resolution for July will be to focus on the things I’m grateful for. And I’ll get a head start by making my first gratitude list.

I’m grateful for my family’s good health.

I’m thankful that I have a caring and supporting husband.

I appreciate the eggs that my chickens lay (even if we can’t find them all sometimes).

I feel grateful that we live in a community with a public library. 

I’m thankful that we have access to health care, even if we don’t need it.
