Today is our third wedding anniversary.
Just for fun, I tried on my wedding dress this morning and found it was several inches too big through the rib cage! I didn’t think it was possible to have ribs shrink, but apparently, mine have in the last three years. I’m not sure how I feel about that, but I feel pretty healthy right now so I’m not going to worry about it.
My husband Kurt and I decided to celebrate in our own way. We arranged for a sleepover at Grandma’s house for our two young daughters, so I dropped them off around lunch time and headed back home to hang out with Kurt.
Our afternoon was spent at the Salem Glen Winery where we enjoyed a peaceful eight-varietal wine tasting and delicious cheese plate. The scenery was beautiful and the conversation was light and entertaining.
On our way back to town, we stopped by the farm truck (being manned by one of the many DeCook nieces) and picked up a bag of fresh-picked, locally grown sweet corn. (We’re saving those for tomorrow’s lunch when the children get home.)
Then, after a quick dinner at the local Mexican restaurant, we delivered dinner to Kurt’s mother and visited for a few minutes. Just before 7pm, we raced home to watch the last Vikings preseason football game. (I get to blog while he’s watching the game, so everyone’s happy.)
The final piece of our celebration will be heading to bed early and SLEEPING IN tomorrow morning! We are both looking forward to not having to answer the usual 3am or 6am cries for Mama and Papa. Our girls will be delivered back home before lunch tomorrow but I see no reason to get out of bed before 9am.
Here’s to many, many more years together! I love you, you handsome fellow!
How do you celebrate your anniversaries?
