Today’s topic is: “Share your favorite photographs and the stories behind them.”
My sister took this picture of me several years ago while we were playing a game of dice. I honestly can’t remember what was so hilarious but I remember laughing so hard I cried and my stomach muscles began to hurt. I have framed this photograph and it will become a permanent fixture in my writer’s retreat/tiny house (once it’s built). For me, this picture captures several important life lessons. It reminds me not to take life too seriously. Make time to laugh until it hurts. Remember the good times and forget the rest.
This photo of me standing on top of a grain bin has a similar feel. I had just jumped in and a whole slew of corn had slid down the back of my jeans. In case you’re wondering, no, it’s not a safe idea to jump into a grain bin, and yes, it is impossible to get corn out of your pants without looking silly. But it was hilarious, and it reminds me to try new adventures, even if I end up looking like a fool.
This is my favorite picture of me and my husband. It was taken in 2010, the weekend we met in person for the first time. I love his genuine smile and the twinkle in his eyes.
I absolutely love this photo of my husband and our oldest daughter when she was just seven months old. Her smile, her spiky hair, how she’s grabbing her toes, how he looks so content, and how he’s holding on to her so tightly yet gently.
And finally, I love this picture of my two girls, taken last summer while picking wild raspberries. Their smiles remind me to savor the little joys in life, and not to worry about getting messy in the process. That’s all part of the fun.
