Musings: Wanna Get Away?

Today’s topic is: “Where would you fly right now if you could hop on a plane?”

Funny story… I was just thinking how nice it would be to take a solo vacation. Over the last few days, I’ve been recovering from a case of HFMD that I caught while taking care of my daughters who we thought had the chicken pox. Since it wasn’t chicken pox, I ended up with painful and itchy blisters on my hands and feet, and a wicked sore throat for the last week. Not wanting to infect anyone else, I’ve been on house arrest for the last ten days, so as you can imagine, I’m feeling a little more stir-crazy than normal. It has also given me plenty of time to daydream about where I’d go if I could get away.

I’d fly to New York City to catch a 7-night Royal Caribbean cruise to Bermuda. There is a boat that leaves on July 9th, so that would give me a day in NYC to live it up in the city before heading offshore for days of sun, sleep, and relaxation.

In 2008, I took a solo cruise to Bermuda and had a wonderful time! I did a lot of swimming, reading, drinking, eating, sightseeing, and saw several stunning sunsets.(And when you’re traveling alone, that means taking pictures of your own toes to prove you were there.)

Maybe I can convince my husband that I don’t want annual birthday parties in the future. Instead, every five years, I want a week-long cruise by myself, some place warm and quiet.
